Yorkshire
An ideal location from which to explore both the North York Moors National Park and the glorious Heritage Coast of Yorkshire.
Scarborough is known as the first seaside resort and has been welcoming guests for more than 300 years.
It boasts two beautiful beaches, with the North Bay being popular with surfers and the South Bay perfect for a fun-filled family day at the seaside.
Other places to visit in Scarborough include the castle, Peasholm Park, the Sea Life Centre and the open air theatre.
To the South of Scarborough are many historic houses and castles with Burton Agnes Hall housing a large collection of Renoir and Matisse.
To the North is the historic port of Whitby, renowned for its connection with Captain Cook and Dracula. Whitby is also the departure point for the steam train across the dramatic moors on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is home to the Duchy of Lancaster’s Goathland Estate and the former setting for Heartbeat and Harry Potter’s Hogsmeade station.
At the end of the line is the market town of Pickering where the Duchy of Lancaster’s splendid 13th century castle may be explored.
A little further afield, discover the City of York, with art galleries, museums and theatres in abundance and the glorious York Minster itself.
Scalby Lodge and the surrounding area are packed with things to do and see.
